School Fees Grant This scheme is intended to support fees only for second level students. If the application is successful, the payment will issue in two instalments direct to the school. All applicants must be in receipt of an SEC grant. All Protestant students attending Protestant-managed fee-paying Schools are eligible to apply for this grant (with the exception of Church of Ireland students attending The Incorporated Society Schools, who may be eligible to apply to that school for funding). School Expenses Grant An additional grant for general school expenses e.g. books, uniform and travel, may be available where there is evidence of real financial hardship. This grant, if awarded, will issue separately to the School Fees Grant and will be sent direct to the parent/guardian. Protestant Aid will assess the information within the application and allocate as necessary. All Protestant students attending any Protestant-managed fee-paying School (including Incorporated Society Schools) are eligible to apply for this grant, subject to receiving an SEC grant. Third Level Education Loan Scheme While Protestant Aid does not give grant aid towards third level education, a limited number of interest-free loans may be available. Applications can only be considered for recognised undergraduate courses at established third level institutions, as published by the Department of Education and Science. Post–graduate courses cannot be considered, nor can the loan be extended to finance repeat years unless in exceptional circumstances, e.g. prolonged absence due to illness. Initial loans are subject to confirmation of a guaranteed place at the chosen third level institution. At present, the maximum loan payable is €12,000, spread over the duration of a four-year course, subject to a maximum annual payment of €3,000.
